ABOUT

The son of Soviet refugees, ANDY RONINSON (he/him/his) is a music maker and storyteller in New York City. As a musical theater songwriter, he is a:

From 2013 to 2015, he founded, ran, and co-wrote all 17 episodes of the first-of-its-kind podcast TAKE A TEN, which featured a new ten-minute musical every month. Episodes of the podcast have been published and licensed by MTI and Concord Inc., produced live around the world, and have won:

  • The 2015 Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Festival

  • The 2016 City Theatre National Award for Short Playwriting

  • 2x Best Musical at the SOUND BITES festival in New York City

As a screenwriter, he has written numerous shorts, one of which, Jump!, was commissioned and produced by the Atlanta Workshop Players and MT Shorts. His half-hour non-musical TV pilot Soviet Rebel Girl won the Silver Prize in the 2021 International PAGE Awards. He is the 1st Place Winner of the 2022 NYC Midnight Short Screenplay Challenge out of 1,200 writers.

On TikTok, his personal account @Andy_Roninson has 26k+ followers after several videos went viral including his breakdown of "Auld Lang Syne" and the educational series "Small Moments in Big Musicals." He is the composer and orchestrator for the popular Korean TikTok channel @Mosaical, which produces original "micro-musicals" featuring stars of the Korean stage. Each episode features a 30-second song with lush orchestrations in the style of various pop and Broadway hits, like "Be Our Guest" from Beauty & the Beast and "Popular" from Wicked (9.7 mil views).

His orchestrations have been heard millions of times in commercials (Little Tikes, Match.com) as well as for children's musicals like Tut, Tut (productions in 14 countries) and Wonderland: Alice's Rock and Roll Adventure (Atlantic Theater, with a cast of 10 actor-musicians playing 26 instruments).
